Those markup tools include text-selection options drawing tools you can use to add freehand drawings to a document a text tool for adding additional text to a document a tool that adds shapes and notes and a signature tool that you can use to capture your signature using your Mac's camera, a tablet or your trackpad. Preview's full set of markup tools appears when you click a small markup button that looks like a pencil tip located next to the search tool in the Preview toolbar. The bulk of Preview's markup capabilities aren't obvious when you first open the app, although you'll find a few basic tools for rotating pages and highlighting text on the basic toolbar. Use that or OCRMyPDF (automated via Hazel) to do a lot of my OCR. Like the app but would never consider paying for it at its price for personal use.īack in my Mac, while I don’t have ABBYY stand-alone, i do have Devon Think Pro which uses ABBYY for OCR conversion and running PDFs through that for OCR nets me some terrific results. Use that for work but occasionally will use that for a personal file if my Mac tools aren’t getting me by.
On my work (Windows) PC I have Adobe Acrobat Pro. Hoping they stay on 3.X for a little while. Might be worth contacting support if you’re a 2.X user, although I can’t say that asking during Black Friday didn’t help my case. Explained I was an existing 2.x user and didn’t need the iOS apps and they gave me a good price for a 3.X lifetime so jumped on that.
I reached out to Readdles support during Black Friday as they had a 50% discount on subscription licenses but nothing for lifetime purchases.
